"Ow ow ow ow ow!"
"Oh shush you big baby," Hawk said, pulling the tip of the small blade from Bolt's shoulder.  "I gave you painkillers, you're fine."
"But it still hurts," Bolt whined.  "Can't you be a little more gentle?"
"No, and if you don't shut up I'll jab it right back into your shoulder," Hawk threatened, pointing the knife at him.  Bolt just muttered under his breath about how unfair it was, but for the most part just stayed quiet as Hawk stitched him up.  Just as she was tying the last stitch, Domino poked his head in, his nose still slightly crooked.
"Hey, Canteen is going to interrogate the bad guy," he said, holding his glasses up.  Not that they were doing him any good.  One of the lenses was cracked and the nose piece was twisted.  "Do you guys want to come watch?  Jay's making the popcorn."
"I'll be there in a minute," Bolt said, not looking directly at Domino.  "Tell Jay to save a seat for me, will ya?"
Domino nodded and stepped back out.  Bolt and Hawk listened as they heard him jog down the hall and say something to Jay, who mumbled something back.
"You really should be nicer to him you know," Hawk said.  "He looks up to you.  It really hurts him that you don't like him."
"I can't help that his first impression stuck," Bolt said, staring at the doorway that Domino had disappeared through.  "He wasn't exactly the nicest person before we straightened him out."
"Well, yes," Hawk said slowly, sitting down next to Bolt.  "And I have to admit, you suffered more than anyone when we found him.  But he's a different person now, Bolt, and you know it."
Bolt sighed and stared at the ground for a while, unsure of what to say.  Their moment of silence was interrupted by Jay shouting from down the hall.
"Hey Bolt, if you want to see this you better hurry up," he called.  "Canteen is about to start, and I think Domino is ready to steal your seat."
"And your popcorn!" Domino added.  "I have that too, it smells delicious!"
Bolt took this opportunity to bring the uncomfortable conversation with Hawk to an end.  He stood up, stretched, and headed for the door.  "Domino, I swear if you eat my popcorn I will make sure you choke on it.  Trust me when I say they'll never find the body."
"You're mean," Domino said with a pout.  "Can't I just have a little?  Jay didn't put extra butter in mine so it doesn't taste as good."
"Fine," Bolt groaned.  "Take it, I don't care.  But you're not allowed to sit next to me, got it?"
Domino nodded and popped a piece of popcorn in his mouth.  He didn't look happy with not being allowed to sit next to Bolt, but he didn't say anything.  He never did.  Bolt sat down next to Jay with his arms crossed.  All three men turned their attention towards the TV hanging on the wall.
"Ready?" Jay asked with the remote in his hand.  The other two nodded and he flipped on the television.  Canteen and their mystery attacker appeared on screen, sitting in a white room with a single locked steel door.  They were sitting in folding chairs at a metal table, with the attacker handcuffed and Canteen with a gun in his holster.
"I'm only gonna ask this one m're time," Canteen said, leaning onto the table.  "What're you doin' attackin' my team?"  The other man stayed silent, glaring at Canteen with cold steely-blue eyes.
"Man, Canteen really sucks at interrogation," Jay said through a mouthful of popcorn.  "He loses his temper every time, doesn't keep his cool at all."
Bolt nodded in agreement.  "Yeah, as fun as it is to watch it's kind of sad.  I mean, he only asks like one or two questions and spends the rest of the time yelling.  What's up with that?  I think he needs anger management or something."
"Yeah, no kidding," Jay said.  "And did you see the way he was staring at that little girl?  Talk about creepy.  Never dubbed him as the pedophile type, but I suppose anything is possible."
"Hey, speaking of the girl, where is she?"  Bolt asked.  He didn't know why, but for some reason he felt responsible for her.
"Hm?  Oh, she's with Striker," Jay said.  "He's going to ask her some questions and then decide what to do with her."
Bolt nodded and took a sip of Jay's soda.  "Makes sense.  I just hope he goes easy on the poor kid."
"Yeah, he can be pretty harsh," Jay said, taking his soda back.  "Oh, and this is mine.  Don't touch it.  Or else."
"Or else what?" Bolt asked.
"You don't want to know, Jay said with a warning glare.
There was a moment of silence as the two agents glared at one another and Domino watched them both intently.  Then Bolt looked Jay right in the eye, reached out, picked up the soda, and took a sip.  The two agents held eye contact a moment later, and Bolt had a look that clearly said "Yeah?  And what are you going to do about it?"
"Oh you are so dead," Jay growled.  He then leaped from his chair and tackled Bolt to the ground.  Bolt fell backwards on the floor with a grunt, but was very careful not to spill the soda.  Keeping it upright, he held the soda out so it was barely out of Jay's reach.
"Give it back!" Jay shouted, reaching for the soda.  "It's mine!  You can't have it!"
"You'll never get it!" Bolt shouted, stretching a little further to keep the can away from his partner.  "It's mine now, mwahahaha!"
"I swear, if you don't give it back I'm going to shoot you," Jay threatened.  'I'm serious, I will shoot you in the leg.  And then I'll eat your popcorn."
"Only a monster would eat someone's popcorn," Bolt said with a glare.
"Try me," Jay said, glaring right back.
"But wait, I'm already eating his popcorn," Domino pointed out, holding up n already half empty bowl of popcorn.
"Guy has a point," Bolt said with a sly grin.  "Can't eat popcorn that's already been eaten."
"Shooting it is then," Jay said, reaching for his gun.
"Oh come on, I already got stabbed today!" Bolt said.  "Can't you cut me some slack?  Besides, you still owe me that soda from that bet we made over Canteen."
"Oh fine," Jay sighed, getting back up and sitting down in his chair.  "But only this one time.  Next time I really will shoot you."
"Yeah, sure you will," Bolt said with a smirk, sitting up and crossing his legs Indian style.  "That's  what you say every time you're pissed at me.  Yet how many times have you shot me?  That's right, none."
Jay just muttered something under his breath and crossed his arms with a huff.  Bolt grinned, knowing that the only reason Jay wasn't answering was because he knew Bolt was right.  Despite their constant threats, neither man had made any real attempt to harm the other, other than during training exercises and the occasional fist fight.  Just as well too, because if they did try to kill each other it was no question who would win.
"Hey, you guys are missing interrogation," Domino said after a mouthful of popcorn.  Bolt and Jay looked up to see Canteen almost at his wits end, and the attacker looking calm and collected in his chair.  Unfortunately this happened every time Canteen interrogated someone.  Fortunately it was very entertaining.
"Son, this is the absolute last time I'm goin' ta ask," Canteen said through gritted teeth.  "Why.  Did.  You.  Attack.  My.  Team?"
Silence.
"You better go get him," Bolt said.  Jay nodded and ran through a door, appearing on the screen a few seconds later.
"Canteen, why don't you take a break?" he suggested calmly.  "Go get a manly sandwich or something.  I'll take over from here."
Canteen thought about this for a moment before nodding and stepping out of the little room.  Jay watched him go, waiting until his comrade was out the door until he addressed the prisoner.
"Alright, this silent treatment has got to stop," Jay said, sitting in the chair across from the man.  "I mean, I understand wanting to mess with Canteen and all.  I do it all the time.  But I really do need you to talk here or this is going to end badly.  Got it?"
The man just sat silently in his chair, his expression completely emotionless.  Jay gave him a warning look and leaned on the table.
"Look, pal," he said.  "I know someone who can make you talk, and trust me when I say you do not want us to go there.  I don't even want us to have to go there.  So I need you to tell me something, anything that we can use.  Your name would be a great place to start."
The captive stayed absolutely silent, not even bothering to open his mouth.  Jay frowned, giving him a few seconds before he sighed and looked up at the camera in the corner of the room.
"Alright Domino," He said.  "He's all yours.  See what you can do to loosen him up."
Domino wasted no time making his way into the interrogation room.  He was still doing his best to hold his glasses up to his face and his nose had a little white strip on it to help keep it straight.
"Time for payback," Domino said with a grin.  He then grabbed the back of the man's chair and dragged him out of the room, whistling a catchy tune as he went.
Bolt watched Domino and the man walk out of the room and go right past him and Canteen on the way to the lab.  He actually felt bad for their attacker.  No one deserved to be left alone in a lab with Domino.  Not even people who stabbed other people in the shoulder for no good reason.  Although, Bolt definitely wouldn't mind stabbing him for payback.
Jay stepped out of the interrogation room and watched Domino drag the prisoner away.  "Well, at least we'll get some information out of him."
"Yeah, if there's anything left of him," Bolt muttered.
"Oh come on, Domino isn't that bad," Jay said.  "He'll just be a little freaked out is all."
"If by 'freaked out' you mean 'scared for life and will never be mentally stable again', then yeah, probably."
Jay sighed and shook his head.  "Bolt, just give him a chance," he said.  "You're his hero!  The least you could do is try not to hate him."
"If he didn't want me to hate him, he should of thought of that before he tried to murder me," Bolt said, crossing his arms.
"Bolt, just about everyone on this team has tried to murder you," Jay said.  "Even I've tried it a few times."
"Yes, but you aren't Domino," Bolt said.
"Your logic is undeniable," Jay said, rolling his eyes.  "Just try to be a little nicer, okay?  Besides, it could be worse.  I could have sent him to Striker."
"Now that would have been cruel," Bolt said.  "There really wouldn't be anything left to interrogate if you had done that."
"No kidding," Jay said.  "With the way Striker can get rid of bodies, he would have—"
"Hey, where's that girl at?" Canteen interrupted, looking around.
"She's with Striker," Jay said.
"Why do you want to know?" Bolt asked.
"Oh, just makin' sure she's a'right," Canteen said with a shrug.
Bolt nodded, but he didn't believe him.  He didn't know why, but something just didn't feel right.  What with that weird way Canteen had been acting ever since they had found the girl.
Just then the door opened and the little girl stepped in.  She was still in Bolt's jacket and her light red eyes were staring at the ground.  In one hand she held on tightly to an envelope with Bolt's name on it.  Canteen, of course, had his eyes locked on the little girl the moment she walked into the room.  Bolt stepped in front of him to address the girl, deliberately blocking his view.
"Can I have that?" Bolt asked, reaching his hand out.  The girl nodded and handed him the letter, keeping her gaze on the floor.  Bolt grabbed the envelope, tore the top open, and read the small piece of paper that was inside.
Bolt,
Your mission was a success.  We need the girl, so she will be staying with you.  I trust no one else to keep her safe.  Do not disappoint me.
I've included a little more money to help with food and clothing expenses.  I am more than certain that it will be more than enough to cover any costs of housing the girl.  DO NOT spend it on anything else.  I don't think I need to tell you the dire consequences if you do.
-Striker

Bolt groaned.  Of course he was going to have to be the one to take her home.  He peaked inside of the envelope, spotting three hundred dollars.
"Should last a little while," he mumbled to himself, shoving the envelope in his pocket.
"What should be more than plenty for what?" Jay asked.
"Oh nothing, just business," Bolt replied.
"And what're we doin' with the girl?" Canteen asked, not taking his eyed off the girl for even a second.
"Yeah, she's coming with me," Bolt said, stepping in front of her.  "Striker is having her stay with me for a while.  Away from here."
Bolt and Canteen glared at each other for a moment, the tension between the two almost palpable.  That was, until the silence was shattered by Domino calling from down the hall.
"Hey guys, down here!  He's talking!"
Jay watched as Canteen and Bolt stared each other down a bit longer before walking down the hallway, the little girl sticking close to Bolt's side.  Jay sighed and followed behind them.  Something told him that this was not going to end well.
Look! It's up!
Heh, sorry it's so late guys, it was slow typing... ^^; You can thank :iconiamforeverfree: That it's up now instead of later. She's the one sitting here while I type this.
